A special thank you to the pilots that flew the Young Eagles: Nels Anderson (Piper Archer), James Ellis (Piper Cherokee 180), Norman Landry (Cessna 150) and Mark Saklad (Cessna 172).
Appreciation was expressed by parents and visitors, including the Wellesley Baptist Church Youth Minister and his wife (Rev. Scott and Mrs. Bethany Hadley) who brought several of the Young Eagles.
Other pilots and ground crew included: Bill Greenberg, Chapter 196 president; Fred Moses who helped out with the camera; Charlie Smith, Young Eagles coordinator; registration crew: Mary Smith and Betty-Lee Ward. YE Samuel Corner and his dad, Brian Corner, helped Nels, Bill and Charlie set up the tent area. Pilot members checking in included Alan C. Orth and Jon Engvall (former president of Chapter 196).
Nancy's Air Field Cafe thoughtfully set up hot coffee for the staff. Delicious. Thank you!
We all had the opportunity to talk with and to answer questions visitors might have. While Charlie Smith was down at the hangar getting the tent and chairs, a pilot asked abou EAA. Charlie told him he was welcome to visit a chapter meeting (gave him time, place, etc.). Bill Greenberg gave details to a new pilot who wanted to know about EAA. Jim Ellis spent time with a man and his 4 year old who wanted get up close to Jim's airplane and look into the cockpit. Several people asked questions at the registration table and took registration forms and schedules. Thank you to all the pilots and ground crew.
